The MIT Enterprise Forum (MITEF) for the Pan Arab Region, in partnership with Community Jameel announced the launch of the 11th edition of the MITEF Arab Startup Competition.

Targeting over 21 countries in the region, the MITEF Arab Startup Competition sees thousands of applications a year, and in 2017 the organizing committee received 8,272 applications!

The Arab Startup Competition is a yearly competition run by the MITEF Pan Arab that pits entrepreneurs in 3 different tracks: Ideas Track, Startups Track, and Social. Last year, Bahrain hosted the event and it was a huge success, this year the competition will be hosted in Oman and the semi-finalist teams will be announced later this week, on January 12th. So, what should we expect?

The teams that qualify will be invited to participate in preparatory activities that consist of training sessions, workshops, access to practical knowledge, guidance, and resources to take their startup to the next level. The timing and location will also be announced at a later stage.

The competitors go through 3 rounds of judging, after which three winners are selected from each track.The winning entrepreneurs are awarded prizes worth more than $160K and benefit from a range of other activities, including mentorship, coaching, media exposure, and great networking opportunities.
