Bahrain FinTech Bay (BFB) announced Oct 24, 2018, that it has forged a strategic partnership with the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) for the inaugural edition of its blockchain conference, BlockOn 2018. The event will take place on Nov 22 at the Wyndham Grand, Bahrain Bay under the theme of “Redefining Finance.”

“We are delighted to announce the Economic Development Board as the Strategic Partner for BlockOn. With dedicated FinTech focused teams, the EDB has played an instrumental role in fostering the growth and development of Bahrain’s FinTech ecosystem and is an active player on the global FinTech scene,” said Khalid Saad, CEO of BFB while confirming the news of EDB coming onboard with the forthcoming event.  

BlockOn 2018 is expected to draw more than 300 blockchain innovators and professionals from all over the world. The participants will include a diverse group of entrepreneurs, regulators, financial industry executives, and investors. The primary objective of the event is to spread awareness about the still-nascent but fast-evolving industry while simultaneously exploring different avenues to harness the productive potential it has to offer.

BlockOn will mainly focus on the impact of blockchain on the financial services and FinTech industries and how to expand its scope in applications such as trading, payments, legal ownership, and security. It will also delve in complicated governance related issues including regulations to guide the blockchain industry and its offshoots such as cryptocurrencies.

As for the structure of the event, it will consist of a wide range of activities including keynotes by eminent industry experts, panels, seminars, demos, fireside chats, and roundtables. In addition, BlockOn 2018 will also see Bahrain FinTech Bay announcing the findings of the BlockOn Survey, aimed at providing a broad and comprehensive insight into the future evolution of the blockchain industry.
