Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the GCC Secretary-General, signed the official participation contract on behalf of all GCC Member States to have a joint pavilion at Expo2020 Dubai.

As H.E. Reem bint Ebrahim al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General, Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau commented, that it is the first time when a Council will be represented at a World Expo. Besides, this is the first multi-national organization to join the Expo2020.

In line with the forum’s theme ”Connecting Minds, Creating Future,” the joint pavilion will showcase the collaboration between the GCC countries and all the significant achievements they made working together as one. The 6-month initiative will further strengthen the connections between them, said H.E. Al Hashimy.

Dr. Al Zayani highlighted that the GCC family had been together for over three decades now. Home of 51 million people, the GCC nations collaborate in many areas including international affairs, agriculture, energy, culture, trade, economy, and more. Each member state has been working towards its progress, but they all join the Gulf Common Market, a shared vision for the future, and common values. “Our decision to take part in Expo 2020 Dubai reflects these historical, social, economic and cultural ties, which will only be strengthened by this extraordinary experience,” he stated.
