Having already made quite an impact in the Middle East as the most visited Arabic website in the world, Mawdoo3 is now eying for new highs in terms of growth and reach. The website which already has more than 45 million unique visitors per month has now bagged $13.5 million in a Series B round. And plans on using that fund to further expand its original content and enhance the native Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

The company aims to further intensify its efforts to tap in on the low supply of Arabic content online amidst an ever-increasing demand. To put things into perspective, only 1% of the Internet’s total content is in Arabic, whereas the Arab world makes no less than 5% of the world’s population. To do its bit to meet that growing demand, Mawdoo3 has so far published more than 150,000 articles on a wide range of topics including health, food, lifestyle, education, and more. The company already publishes content worth roughly the same volume as two decently-sized novels. However, the newly raised fund is expected to help the company further increase that volume.

Acknowledging the far-reaching impact of the new funding round, led by UK-based Kingsway, Rami Al-Qawasmi, Co-founder, and CEO of Mawdoo3.com, said: “This investment from international investors is a validation of Mawdoo3’s potential. Our success is a result of the trust built over the past six years with our users, which is a motivation for us for an even greater impact in the coming years as we expand our content and the channels through which we deliver that content to the Arabic-speaking world online.”
