Come August 13, RiseUp LLC will host its special edition conference RiseUp From Home (RFH) to reconnect the regional startup ecosystem under one (virtual) roof. Dubbed “Got Grit?”, the goal of the three-day online event is to help and encourage entrepreneurs to become more resilient amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing economic slowdown.

If your startup is currently locked in a battle against the challenges thrown in by the pandemic, the special edition event could go a long way helping your cause. RiseUp has confirmed that one of the primary objectives of RFH will be to expose the attendees to real case studies on how different global companies at different levels have survived in the past six months.

The event will mostly include prominent local and regional entrepreneurs as guest speakers. These include Rana El Kaliouby, Co-founder and CEO at Affectiva, Vezeeta’s CEO Amir Barsoum and Omar Gabr, Instabug’s CEO; as well as regional and global VCs and investors such as 500 Startups’ Hasan Haidar and Global Ventures’ Noor Sweid; and global experts and professionals such as Andreesen Horrowitz’s Ben Horrowitz and LinkedIn’s Allen Blue.

Commenting on the vision behind RFH, Abdelhameed Sharara, Founder of RiseUp said, “RFH is digitizing activities that were majorly conducted offline, including networking, exposure, and exhibiting, in order to prepare startups regionally for unforeseen external shocks in the future.”

Sharara added:  “The aim is to help startups and entrepreneurs mitigate the negative economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by enabling stakeholders to reconnect, obtain resources, become more resilient and learn how to become more gritty.”

More than 40% of the content in the event is expected to be in Arabic. RFH will be streamed live by event management platform Eventtus and it will consist of five different tracks including Smart Capital Track, Creative Culture Track, Tech 4 Humans Track, Emerging Tech Track, and People Track.

Collectively, these five tracks will include a series of workshops, keynote speeches, fireside chats, networking rooms, satellite activities and entertainment experiences, a virtual startup exhibition, consultation matchmaking, and a launchpad.
