Tamkeen’s annual Public Consultation Forum was held yesterday, December 23, 2019, in the presence of over 500 attendees representing various sectors in Bahrain’s economy. As StartUp Bahrain previously reported, the Forum is an important initiative by the labor fund to get in touch with partner organizations, as well as customers to discuss strategies.

Just like the previous years, Tamkeen partners including startups, individuals, SMEs, and other entities shared the platform to exchange ideas, share feedback, and discuss possible roadmaps for different Tamkeen programs.

The opening speech was delivered by Tamkeen Chairman His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed Bin Essa Al-Khalifa who brushed upon the labor fund’s achievements over the past year and its continued commitment to the 2018-2020 strategy.

“After two years of launching our 2018-2020 strategy, having it focused on diversity, acceleration, and sustainability, we’re proud of the results we have attained as we reached more than 183,000 individuals and 51 SMEs up to this day, and have spent more than 1 billion BHD in the various support programs and initiatives offered by Tamkeen,” he noted.

The Tamkeen Chairman’s speech was followed by a detailed presentation outlining the labor fund’s greatest achievements and the proposed roadmap for 2020. The presentation covered various aspects including the approach Tamkeen plans on embarking on, as well as the focus areas.

It was then followed by a panel discussion on the potential of labor market reforms and how different stakeholders in the economy can contribute to achieving those objectives.

Commenting on Tamkeen’s continued commitment towards creating high-quality job opportunities in Bahrain, the organization’s CEO, Dr. Ebrahim Janahi, said: “Tamkeen is also focused on creating job opportunities for Bahrainis, as Tamkeen partnered with different organizations to offer more training programs in Cloud Computing, in addition to collaborating with accelerators.”
