TechCrunch’s Startup Battlefield, often touted as the world’s “preeminent startup competition” is coming to Dubai next year. As always, the event will focus on finding and featuring promising early-stage startups from the Middle East and the rest of the world.

It will cover three key areas: governance, logistics, and distribution. So, in order to be eligible to apply, startups must fall under one of the three categories. The top-5 applicants in each category will have the opportunity to compete onstage.

Those selected for the competition will demonstrate their ideas/products in front of a live audience and top judges.

TechCrunch is organizing the event in association with Area 2071, a new innovation hub set to launch in 2018 with the goal of fostering innovators who are dedicated to solving key human challenges.

In addition to that, winners of each Startup Battlefield category will also be offered a spot in Area 2071’s co-creation space. This will entitle them to continuous support from a thriving startup ecosystem comprising of influential government entities, corporate partners, lawyers, and designers. Not only that, the perks will also include accommodation and visa sponsorship.

Meanwhile, the overall winner of Startup Battlefield 2018 Dubai will also receive a cash award of $50,000 and an all-expense paid trip for two to San Francisco where they will be able to partake in the Disrupt SF 2018’s Startup Battlefield round.

The application window for each Battlefield event opens three months prior to the event date. Only startups launching for the first time to the public and with little to no exposure to the press are accepted.
