Amazon Web Services (AWS) and C5 Nebula teamed up to host an interactive event last week. A part of the AWS We Power Tech initiative, the event focused on exploring new ways to increase the role of women in the technology sector by paving the way for a more inclusive workforce. The AWS We Power Tech program focuses on empowering underrepresented communities in the tech space by helping them build useful skills and creating networks that can propel the progress of the sector.

The event kicked off with a fireside chat with Teresa Carlson, Vice President, Worldwide Public Sector, AWS. Elaborating on the importance of diversity in the workforce, she spoke at length about AWS’ commitment to doing its bit to help more female professionals get into the technology sector. Carlson pointed out that while the progress has so far been pretty impressive, there is indeed the scope for a more inclusive workforce with a more balanced male to female ratio.

The event also saw the announcement of a special edition of “We Power Tech Day in the Cloud” training session for Bahraini women on Nov 7, 2018. The one-day complimentary program will aim to teach participants about the fundamentals of AWS cloud technology and prepare them for further training in cloud technology.
