The Bahraini government has announced that it will continue paying 50% of the salaries of all insured Bahraini citizens working in private sector organizations worst hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. With this new move, the beneficiary enterprises will continue receiving government aid throughout the last quarter of 2020.

The decision taken by the cabinet was a prerogative of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

As per government data, approximately 23,000 Bahraini citizens working and as many as 4,000 establishments are likely to directly benefit from the move. 

Additionally, the cabinet also decided to pay 50% of the salaries of 524 uninsured employees serving in kindergartens and nurseries through the same period. 

Meanwhile, it was also confirmed that Tamkeen will be extending its wage support program until the end of 2020. This means, nearly 950 taxi drivers and 829 driving instructors will continue receiving BD 150 per month at least until Dec 2020.
