The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is encouraging Bahraini startups to participate in what could be one of the largest UN-backed innovation competitions in the world. Dubbed the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs), the competition is open to startups from all over the world, across all sectors. 

The winners of the competition will earn several perks including the chance to pitch at a UNWTO Demo Day, unrestricted access to technological support and more than 90 venture capitalists. 

Not only that, but the winners will also be granted access to top corporations and more than 150 countries, as well as a potential pilot project with private-sector collaborators and institutions, among other benefits. 

Startups that are innovative in nature and offer value-added solutions can send their applications via the official UNWTO website. Other eligibility criteria include:

The startup must be

  • Sustainability-driven
  • Scalable
  • Early Stage or Series A startup
  • Prepared with a tested pilot and business plan
  • Experienced with startup accelerator programs.
  • Supported by a fulltime team
