Huawei’s ICT Competition is a mega event for students, entrepreneurs, and innovators who want to make it big in the information and communication technology industry.

Just like previous years, the event primarily focused on exploring new avenues to provide the industry with active participants who would help in the quest for digital transformation, in addition to taking care of other essential affairs such as talent supply and demand, and further developing the concept of a formidable talent ecosystem.

This year’s finale of Huawei ICT took place in Huawei’s Shenzhen, China headquarters as 40,000 participants representing 800 colleges and universities from 32 countries gathered in the city to pitch their ICT innovations and ideas. Team Bahrain made it amongst the top competing teams in the world.

One of Team Bahrain’s representatives, Dr. Mazen Ali, Assistant Professor, Head of Information Systems at the University of Bahrain said, “Our Bahraini team was among the top 23 teams from around the world competing in the global finals, team Bahrain was also recognised for ‘Outstanding Performance and ‘Excellent Tutor Awards’.”.

If you weren’t aware, Bahrain ranks 1st in MENA for ‘ICT Development’ according to the International Telecommunication Union report.

Dr. Mazin added, “Well done to Ahmed, Duaa and Yassir for competing in the global final and representing Bahrain, this is an achievement by itself.”. The team acknowledged the immensely valuable knowledge and experience gained by participating in such events.
