CrediMax and Mastercard have announced Masterpass, which is a digital payment system from Mastercard that allows users to make convenient, fast, and secure digital payments across devices and channels. The tie-up between the two companies saw Masterpass being integrated right within MaxWallet, CrediMax’s digital wallet.

With this new development, customers in Bahrain will be able to shop anytime, anywhere, with Masterpass’ QR technology —be it an in-app purchase, in-store purchase, or online shopping on e-commerce sites like Amazon.

Yousif Ali Mirza, Chief Executive Officer of CrediMax said: “The dual functionality of Masterpass and Masterpass QR in our MaxWallet service will enable our users to take advantage of a seamless payment experience, regardless of whether they are paying online, in-store or in-app – indicating the onset of a new era of digital payments in Bahrain.”

Mastercard will continue collaborating with industry leaders like CrediMax to develop new products and services with the ability to leverage the fast-evolving realm of technology while simultaneously boosting the adoption of cashless systems.

“By enabling consumers to make fast, simple and secure digital payments directly from their mobile phones, Masterpass QR helps advance the use of cashless payment methods by providing a viable alternative to cash, while contributing to financial inclusion by empowering thousands of small businesses,” stated Pankaj Kathuria, Area Business Head for Northern Gulf at Mastercard.
