During the first three days of December, Cairo will be all about tech. For the third year in a row, the Egyptian capital will host the RiseUp Summit. RiseUp is a startup supporting initiative, connecting young MENA entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. This year’s theme will be ”Innovation to Improve Human Experience”.

The organizers expect around 150 international and local speakers, 150 exhibiting startups, 20 workshops, nearly 50 pitches, and more than 200 potential investors. The event brings together all the key players from the MENA startup ecosystem to share best practices and expand their network.

The primary goal of the organizers this year is to show how innovation and entrepreneurship can be used to improve the human experience. They believe the most exciting and disruptive solutions in today’s world happen when creativity, capital, and technology meet. The RiseUp team would like to inspire local entrepreneurs to cross borders and expand their horizons across regions, and possibly, go global too.

Among the prominent speakers this year would be Chris Do, the founder of concept design platform The Futur, Udacity CEO Vish Makhijani and Udacity COO Clarissa Shen. One of the most famous names among the MENA venture capitalists, Sharif El-Badawi, a partner at 500 Startups and TechWadi Chairman also confirmed attendance.

During the three-day summit, there will also be 50 satellite events, including panel discussions, demo days, fireside chats, hackathons, and many other activities to enrich the participants’ experiences.

Furthermore, RiseUp and its long-term partner, the Egyptian venture capital firm Algebra Ventures, will showcase 18 of the most-promising MENA startups, the so-called HIPOs, high-potential startups. They will have the opportunity to meet venture capitalists, investors, employees, and customers. They will also meet up with representatives from leading U.S. universities, including Harvard, Stanford, IE, and Singularity.
