It’s not just another startup accelerator; the idea goes far beyond, implies Chalhoub Group, while describing their new initiative, Greenhouse Accelerator. Chalhoub is a Middle Eastern luxury retailer with more than six decades of experience in beauty, fashion and gift sectors. The company recently announced the launch of its homegrown Greenhouse Accelerator, a platform that promises growth opportunities to tech startups focused on the retail sector.

The company has called for applications from MENA entrepreneurs working on retail solutions that could potentially revolutionize the industry. Chalhoub states that the “equity-free program will accelerate the implementation of the right solutions,” which could be later integrated into Chalhoub’s own platform for enhancing operational efficiency.

In other words, the ideas coming out of the Greenhouse Accelerator program have a chance to make it to pilot projects and case studies undertaken by companies within the Chalhoub Group. If the ingenuity offered by these ideas can beat real-life operational challenges, the MENA retail giant promises to incorporate them right into their tech-inventory.

“As a leading retailer of luxury in the Middle East, we’ve decided to transform. Our north star vision is to become a hybrid retailer delivering luxury experiences to the fingertips of our customers everywhere,” says Patrick Chalhoub, Co-CEO, Chalhoub Group.

The inaugural edition of the equity-free accelerator program will start this September and run through December 2018 in Dubai. The selected startups and entrepreneurs will receive a grant of $20,000 along with access to a co-working space.
