Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) recently organized an event aimed at bringing regional and global investors together by showing them the benefits of investing in Bahraini-based startups. It also saw a mini-pitch were two startups pitched and were evaluated using various investment

The third edition of the event was called Invested and led by BDB’s Rowad team and supported by StartUp Bahrain.

This year, the event included workshops organized by Dubai Angel Investor Network and Faith Capital, highlighting the importance of understanding startup investment term sheets and how to develop investment networks.

Maitham Abdul Hameed Abbas, Senior Vice President of business development at BDB took the stage to reiterate that nearly 86% of all SME transactions in Bahrain are carried through the bank. He said: “Many people are not aware that we provide financial services to a very large number of SMEs in the kingdom. BDB’s activities are focused on financing and development of small and medium businesses in addition to that we also provide training, coaching and mentoring services to young Bahraini entrepreneurs.”

In addition to that, Areije Alshakar, Senior Vice President of the Development Division at BDB highlighted on Rowad program and its efforts in assisting and empowering emerging entrepreneurs across the country.
