WIMO, the Dubai-based startup that prides itself as a new-generation dynamic delivery platform for enterprises, has bagged $500,000 in its latest seed funding round led by Dubai Angel Investors (DAI). A number of other smaller regional angel investors also chipped in.

Saying the startup was excited to collaborate with DAI, WIMO co-founder Wissam Aboueida briefly mentioned the plan to utilize the newly raised fund to further bolster its presence in Dubai and Riyadh. Additionally, the company will focus on expanding the in-house engineering teams to deliver enhanced automation and enterprise services.

Founded in 2017 by Aboueida, along with co-founder Mohamed Bahaa, WIMO aims to disrupt the aging legacy delivery infrastructure still used by the majority of the courier, logistics and distribution, and e-commerce companies in the region.

WIMO helps delivery services increase efficiency and lower the cost of logistics by providing them with a sophisticated dynamic logistic automation platform backed by simple user experience design practices. The company claims to have completed more than 3 million deliveries till date.

Speaking of the decision to take a lead role in WIMO’s ongoing seed round, DAI co-founder Tarek Amin said: “As an investor, we’ve been very selective about the companies that we have backed, we are confident that WIMO has a winning team and a fantastic game-plan to help Enterprises remain competitive and keep their costs down using the latest logistics automation and best user experience and design practices. We are excited to support them in bringing the platform to further companies in the region.”

Among the key features that make WIMO a smarter alternative to legacy logistics systems are a reliable mechanism for real-time tracking and alerts, smart and optimized routes, digital proof of delivery, performance logs and reports, and multiple payment options.
